This is a 1904 Herbert Gleason photo titled "Cows in pasture, old Tarbell place, Concord, Massachusetts"(courtesy of CFPL). Though it is taken on the same day as the two photos of the Bensen-Tarbell-Ball house previously shown, Thoreauvian Walter Brain thinks this may be a picture of the other Tarbell place in Concord, which is south of Route 2. Further research may show whether Gleason on that day visited both areas or only photographed in the Ball's Hill Road area. With that qualification and because of the consistency of the dates, the photograph is significant enough to include here. A photo of the modern fields appeared earlier.
This is an mosaic pan showing two intersecting fields that have survived on the old farm, a few rods to the south of the house. This is probably on the town's newly-acquired, well-protection land. (Photo Sept. 8, 2001.)
