Each country sends one that was picked by a telephone (TED. One of those
inexplicable terms coined by German TV) poll in a previous competition on live
TV in their respective countries.
Sounds like a good idea that shouldbe fun to watch? In theory, yes. The problem is that all the songs are HORRIBLE and the whole things is an embarrassment. This of course does not stop people like my parents to watch it anyway and millions of people to not only watch and vote, but also buy the CD of the horrible songs later...
