Walter

We adopted Walter in 2004 when he was four(?) years old. He's a mutt: American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull) and labrador retriever. We adopted him in Oakland, CA and he moved with us to Portland.

We found Walter through a Pit Bull Rescue Web site (www.badrap.org)
These first 3 pictures were the ones posted on the web site.
Though he was twice as big as we had wanted - 80 lbs - it was love at 1st sight.
We didn't name him (the couple who rescued him did) but he's a Walter for sure.
He has three favorite hobbies. 1) Sleeping . . .
2) Scrounging for food. (We call it schnoofing: snooping+sniffing+ schlepping)
3) Hunting for cats (and other small animals). This standoff lasted 10 min.
Of course, he has other hobbies. The longer the walk, the better.
And he can spend hours sprawled out in the sun.
A hot, sunny day never fails to bring a sloppy grin to Walter's face.
He's a huge Red Sox fan. Really. He put this hat on himself.
Plus he does impressions - this is his imitation of Batman.
Sometimes, on a hot day, there might even be a rare tongue sighting.
In the end, though, it is all about finding a soft place to relax.
No matter how awkward it might seem, he'll make it work.
Here he's curled up on my empty bodhran case.
He might rouse himself to track his nemesis: Cleo the cat.
But that gets tiring.
And it won't be long before he's out cold.
