Steve Dockery is the singer, guitarist and songwriter for the band, and performs regularly under the name of Elmo Balderdash in Second Life. He also recorded and mixed all the band demos. He's been playing guitar and writing songs for the better part of three decades, and his musical influences run from rockabilly to new wave to celtic to classical.
Steve's band *Batteries Not Included performed extensively in NJ in the 80's, and many of the current String Theorists songs started life back then as *BNI songs.
In 2005 Steve recorded a CD with the original *BNI bass player, Marc Roulier as The Stevos, called "Meet The Stevos" which is available on iTunes.

Irwin Anolik has recently been spotted drumming for local Metro-DC bands "Standard Deviation", "Lucidream" and "Dime Store Novel". In the era
of vinyl and cassettes, Irwin drummed in "The Hipsters", a local Penn
State "all original" band who became a favorite of the Deadheads and
other environmentally friendly, socially conscious crowds. More
recently, Irwin regularly performed and recorded a CD with "2b1" - a
diverse, eclectic band with a spiritual bent.
