Ants of Costa Rica - An extensive online database of the ants of Costa Rica, including identification keys, images, and natural history data.

AntWeb - Another excellent online database for identifying ants

Myrmecos.net - A truly remarkable database of professional-standard photographs of ants (i.e. live ants, not dead specimens). The subjects are all identified to species and the shots often have fascinating natural history notes attached.

Formis - The mother of all ant-literature databases. Contains over 30,000 references, and can be searched online or downloaded as an EndNote® library.

The Ant Lab at the University of Bristol - The homepage for the lab of Nigel Franks. Work in Nigel's lab is mostly focused on the organisation of social insect colonies, although some members of the lab are working on other aspects of social insect biology. Most of the research is conducted on Temnothorax, but there are also past and present projects on army ant biology (including my own). This was my home for the duration of my Ph.D.

Kaspari AntLab - This site covers the research of Mike Kaspari and his lab at the University of Oklahoma. Mike's lab is very active in tropical ant research and among other interesting information, this site contains a growing database of the the ants of the Barro Colorado Nature Monument, Panama.

Kleber Del Claro's lab - The work of Kleber and his students is mostly conducted in Brazilian savanna, or "cerrado", and covers a broad range of topics in behavioural ecology and insect-plant interactions. This is the lab with which I am primarily associated at the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, Brazil.

Gordon Snelling's site on New World Army Ants - An excellent resource for identifying New World army ants. Also check out Notes from the Underground, which is a great online newsletter about ants that Gordon edits.

The Social Insect Lab at the University of Arizona - The homepage of Anna Dornhaus' lab at the University of Arizona. Great work on social organization with ants and bees.

IUSSI U.K. Section - The homepage of the United Kingdom section of the International Union for the Study of Social Insects.
