The ride to Idaho was not too bad except that we were pretty far out from the stadium and Boise. This was the third school we stayed at where the mascot was a Tiger, which several of us thought was interesting.

The school was nicely laid out and the staff supervisor, Caroline was eager to help. She helped in the kitchen, with sewing (she was the county champ) and she was thrilled when Mrs. Mar gave her a copy of the Mandarin cookbook just published.

Contest
The band director and a number of students watched the corps practice, yelling encouragement and expressing awe. A new effect was added and the show that night was very exciting. It was probably the longest standing ovation I have seen. Our show has been a obvious crowd pleaser in every stadium. This time the crowd remained standing and clapping as the corp filed out of the stadium. Three of the stadium staff ran up yelling "you were amazing just amazing".
We stayed and had pizza delivered in the parking lot. Mrs Mar's sister made cookies for the whole corp and they were delicious. We left late and then had to sit on the buses in order to get the correct paperwork to drive into Oregon. We ended up getting into the next school about 8 in the morning.
August 1st was a practice day and we were joined at the housing site (actually in Washington) by the Glassmen who were very nice. Every contact with them was pleasant. The weather was mild for a change. John made his meatloaf again and every kid coming through the line declared they were thrilled as it was their favorite. They had scalloped potatoes, cantaloupe, salad, rolls etc. Following dinner everyone went to do laundry and shop at Walmart. The bus drivers even went casual today.
Staff Meal
August 2nd, The weather was beautiful. We have had sprained ankles, swollen shins, a broken wrist and many with 24 hour viruses, and still the kids (and staff and chaperones) work hard. Pancake, sausages, fruit and eggs were the breakfast that greeted the corps today (just so you know they are being fed well). Several people are leaving and coming today and tomorrow.
