Database Utility Progress

Database Utility?

That's right. For those of you who don't already know, there's a database utility in the works for Mac Flight Planner. I've created this page to give you some progress info on how it's developing due to the many requests I've had for database features this utility will have.

What is it?

One of the main requests I've had for Mac Flight Planner is the ability to import waypoint data from other sources including files and web sites. I designed MFP to meet my own needs and didn't really take into account the needs of the wider Mac flying community. I thought the existing database system would be fine, and I guess for many people it is but there are a considerable number of people who need very large databases and so this utility is principally for them, as well as having featues for the rest of us as well.

12th July, 2004 - The Public Beta of DBU was released today. Importing and exporting from files is complete. Now I've got to develope the plugin system. DBU is available on the MFP disk image which you can download from here.
