gBrowser
Current version:
1.5 beta 22

gBrowser is an image browser/organizer with which you can view and organize your digital image collection (or collections!). Its layout is based on your file system; what you see in the Finder is what you see in gBrowser, but in a much more convenient way. It includes many other features, such as slideshow capability, the "Image Viewer" (very useful on multi-monitor setups, it can be used as a non-linear slideshow or just to more easily view pictures as you browse your collection), a utility to create slideshow screensavers, plugin support (well, soon it will :-), free and friendly tech support, and much, much more.

What users of Versiontracker have to say:

"This is a great application and it's getting better all the time. One of my main uses for Graphic Converter is the image browser but it doesn't look that great in Mac OS X so it's good to see a slick looking alternative that looks and feels fully OS X native."
- Jamie Longstaff ()

"Screensaver feature: COOL!!"
- Adam9 ()

"Sweet! I've used this program since the first beta and it only gets better."
- blee ()

There are a myriad ways to organize one's digital photos, and an equal number of different Mac OS X compatible applications you can use to get the job done. So why should you choose gBrowser over the others?

In gBrowser, what you see is what you get
The organization and layout of your image collection is based on the same files and folders you see in the Finder. No mysterious hidden "library" or database that you can only access through the application or that looks like a complete mess in the Finder.

Flexible appearance
No, it's not skinnable (yet!). However, gBrowser offers you a great deal of flexibility in how it looks; you can make it as pretty (or as ugly) as you like (check out the screenshots page). Want a drop shadow under your thumbnails? Or an outline around them? No problem! Don't like that boring white background color? Change it! Prefer alternating background colors in the rows of the file list? Done!

Support for multiple collections and setups
Do you have a collection of stock photos you use for work, and a collection of family photos you want to keep separate? No problem! gBrowser's document-based format allows you to keep two (or more!) separate setups. You can have one stup for your work images and one for your personal photos. The settings are completely separate, so if you want to view your work collection with huge thumbnails and your personal collection with medium size thumbnails, it's easy! Only have one collection and don't want to worry about all this document stuff? That'd no problem either; just create one document, set it as your default, and you never have to think about it again!

Continuing improvement
gBrowser is being constantly improved to meet its users needs. Have a good idea, see something that could be improved or something you think is missing? Contact the author!

It's cheap!
Is $10 too much to pay for eternal youth, unlimited happiness, true love, and a mountain of chocolate? Of course not! A nicely organized image collection no doubt comes in a close second to that. If you like gBrowser, register now, it's easy!
