BENJAMIN GOLDSTONE led a Workshop on Circuit Bending for the New Media Roadtrip, a program of the Department of Cinema & Media Studies at Carleton College in the fall of 2006.

We built our own primitive amplifiers, which allowed us to hear micro-sounds coming from our circuits.

Next we built speakers for our new instruments, installing them in simple cardboard box baffles. Ben likes to keep things rough and rude. In U.S. new media lingo, this is often called "dirt style." Keep it raw; keep it real.

Every once in a while someone would find an extraordinary groove, and a moment of truly wonderful music would rise from the din.
