iPod Blamed For New York Subway Crime Wave

News reports from New York City this week blame, at least partially, the Apple iPod for a rise in subway crime. So far this year 50 iPods have been stolen compared to zero last year. It seems, though, that most of the crimes involve young people taking iPods from other young people. Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said. "A lot of it happens after school, the kind of tumult that you see when children or young people are getting on the subway station at dismissal time."

Police are suggesting some common sense tips by which everyone should abide no matter the city or mode of transportation. First, ditch the signature white headphones. These are a dead giveaway that you're toting an iPod (There are better headphone available anyway). Second, ditch the belt and arm clips in favor of tucking the device inside your clothing or bag held tightly to your body.
