Backstreet Boys Want To Be Taken Seriously

According to Billboard.com, the Backstreet Boys are hoping for a fair shot with their upcoming album. Boy member Howie Dorough said, "We wanted to make sure this album would give us a shot again to be around the long haul so people will realize that we're not, hopefully, a flash in the pan in their eyes."

Black and Blue, the Backstreet Boys last album, has sold more than 5 million copies in the US, including more than 1.6 million in its first week of release. I predict this album will have a strong first week of sales (200,000 units) and will drastically taper off after that, thus cementing their flash in the pan status.

Some fun quotes from Dorough:
"The music has matured."
"Its a little more stripped down." (Do all boy bands feel the need to say this?)
"...a little more organic."

Cheese alert - They've covered the Eagles' "Best of My Love."

The Backstreet Boys have confirmed four dates on an upcoming club tour.
