The toy store was closed and the stuffed animals were asleep. Elmer the elephant lay on the shelf alone. All the other stuffed animals were bought and taken to a new home.
That morning, when the store opened, a boy pointed at Elmer. His mom said, “No, no, no, not today.”
“ But mom, I love that elephant.”
“ I already said no. Let’s go now.”
Elmer wanted to be bought.The boy said,“Can we go to the toy store today?”
“ I have work today and you have school. Better catch the bus.”
“Bye, mom,”said the boy.
The boy came back to the store, but his mom bought him a spaceman instead. “I want that elephant,”said the boy.
His mom said, “ One of his tusks is gone.”
Elmer went to find his tusk when the store closed. Elmer looked for his tusk. He found it in the trash. Then Elmer said to the doll, “Can you sew my tusk on?”
“Yes,” said the doll.
The next day, the boy came back with three dollars and he bought Elmer and some bubble gum. The boy took Elmer home. Elmer loved his new home.
