Round the Reader - Well it is Edition...

Happy Thursday!!

We had to put the old dog "to sleep" today. Strange way we humans deal with killing our pets. We don't even call it killing. We put them "to sleep." Really what happens is the vet gives the dog/cat a drug that stops their heart. That is killing, not sleeping.

Anyway it was sad. She was a good dog. She just got old, although she hadn't been herself in a few years. Every since I was born there has been a dog in my life. Well, not every day or year, but most and this is the first time I had to make the decision to put one down. My parents, Dad, always did that before. Today I had to. I guess that means I am getting old. Enough of that. Goodbye Meggie.

Let's see what the reader has for us tonight...

The first link I give you, I give because I love the title: Warm Up The Enola Gay. That title is as they say, deep. As is the quote by Tibbets in the post.

Stick Figures in Peril. Heh. (via Chaikaroma)

They're Just More Important Than You Are. That is what they think anyway.

Along those lines: Are the NYT and LAT Editors Starting to Realize They Screwed Up?

Outrage. Indeed.

To 10 ways to Destroy the Earth. Interesting.

Bulletproof Tech. Interesting.

Nice puppy!! Yikes.

How to make a Woman Happy. True and Heh.

Faces in Iraq. Amazing photos.

What does Howard Dean want? To go back to the '60's. *Sigh*

Did you hear that the Asian tsunami warning system is ready? Well it is and I hope it works when the next tsunami happens.

Did you hear about the Asteroid that is going to come close to the Earth on July 3? Well it is.

Say what? Indeed.

A picture IS worth a thousand words: Palestinian Terror Children.

Final Salute. <--Your Patriot's Journey post for today.

While on the topic, Scott has a suggestion for the bathroom:

Round the Reader - Another Month Gone Edition...

Happy Thursday!!

I am still not posting very much, but you, my readers, stop by for every post and I really appreciate it. Part of the reason for the lack of posting is being busy, but part of it is just not being into it much lately. This has happened a few times over the last three years. I don't know why it happens, it just does. Anyway, I just wanted say that and thanks for coming by...

Let's see what the reader has for us tonight:

American Hostage Jill Carroll Free. Great news, that.

Patriots, Then and Now. So true.

Grim Milestone Reached: US Deaths in Iraq Surpass Worst Month in Vietnam. Read that again. Interesting, no? Every death is horrible, but it took three years for the deaths in this war to reach the level of the worst month during Vietnam. I don't want to ever hear the comparisons made between this war and Vietnam again.

While we are on the topic of Iraq, Three Years of Dragging Democrats Through Their Iraqi Quagmire.

If a Tree Falls in an Iraqi Desert. Interesting.

The War Tapes.

Round the Reader - It was fun while it lasted Edition...

Happy Thursday!!

Round the Reader was an idea I had about a year ago. With the help of Rick and Chris we made it work. And it worked pretty well, but it never became popular (Never really my goal, but it would have been cool.) and some members moved on. That is cool, but I have always liked the idea and the name so I am going to continue doing it. I emailed the current members and told them this morning. They may continue also, but it will no longer be a daily round-up.

Today's RtR is going to be a massive catch-up and a few links from today. I have been busy, but have still been collecting links with the intention of posting them. Well I didn't, so today you get them. Some are more than a week old, but all are interesting and I am sure you missed at least one.

Here we go. Oh, one more thing, I am still busy, so this post will grow over the next few hours:

The Real Face of Feminism. Perfect.

Happy Holidays: For Our Democrat & Modererate, Progessive and RINO Friends. Heh.

Moongazing reveals the chaotic world of Uranus. That headline is a joke waiting to happen. Heh. Oh, but the article is interesting.

More on Eavesdropping. What he said.

FISA Court Could Disband After Briefing. Hmmm.

Are the Democrats Walking into a Trap? One can hope.

'Mosques Monitored For Nukes.' As it should be.

A year after her body was overtaken by rabies and her future looked grim, 16-year-old Jeanna Giese celebrated Christmas 2005 at her Milwaukee home with her family.

The teenager is the world’s only known unvaccinated human rabies survivor and has been slowly regaining her ability to walk and talk.

Last year, a very ill Jeanna spent Dec. 25 in a hospital bed. Since then, she has been back to school, is making plans to play on her volleyball team again next year and hopes to eventually go to college.

"Every time that I look at Jeanna, I feel how fortunate we are. She's the only one in the world, so you kind of look at things a little bit different," said her father, John Giese...

Military recruiters play by the rules, so there:
It was refreshing to read in a Star story on Sunday that military recruiters have been playing by the rules when they visit local high schools.

Recent allegations had accused recruiters — mistakenly, it turns out — of targeting minority students in low-income high schools. The stories implied recruiters were preying on the most vulnerable.

Sunday's story was based on a thorough analysis, which showed that recruiters target all schools and are most likely to spend more time in the schools at which they get the warmest welcome.

And that turns out to be in some of the more affluent suburban schools rather than South Side schools.

Round the Reader - Conference, Termites and Painting Edition...

Happy Thursday!!

Dang, I have been busy. Yesterday I spent all day at a conference in Phoenix. It was pretty good, but how useful? Time will tell. Today, I took the day off for two reason. I had the termite guys over and they treated the house for termites. Hopefully that problem is over. I am also still painting. Three-fourths of the master bedroom is done. Does painting ever, really end? I think not.

Let's see what the reader has for us tonight:

Round the Reader - Miers Edition...

Happy Thursday!!!

So Ms. Miers is gone. Good.

I have, I think, one post on Miers. I basically said, "Okay, let's see what she is about." As I have watched people discover what she is about, I was not very impressed and unlike what Harry Reid believes, it is not that she was not "extreme" enough for me. It was because she was not qualified.

I will say it again, I want judges at all levels that interpret the law based on the Constitution. Not rewrite the Constitution, but use it as a foundation for how America goes forward.

I think most conservative, Harry, are like me. They don't believe in extreme ideas, like live sex shows, people having parades to celebrate just their sexuality (when is the next Heterosexual Pride Parade?), killing babies because their birth would be a burden, letting anyone that wants to come into the USA, come; taking my money and spending it without my consent (rebuilding NOLA should be done with local money, not my federal tax money from AZ). We believe that we are "one nation, under God." We believe that this is a great country, we believe it is great because the Constitution sets a foundation, where individuals have the freedom to pursue success and the less the government is involved, the better.

I hope GWB picks someone that believes the Constitution is a important document and can use it as guide when deciding cases. I hope he picks someone that has experience in Constitutional law. They don't have to agree with me on all issues, but the must not want to write law, that is for the people and their legislators to do.

Round the Reader - As time permits Edition...

Happy Thursday!!

Today's RtR will be a bit different. I will be updating it all day long as time permits. When I have a few minutes to sit down at the computer, there will be a few new entries.

One other feature of today's edition is a chance for you to contribute. If you have a link that you think I should include, leave a comment with the link or email me. Let's see what the reader has for us today:

Mexican bishop admits church gets drug money. The Church? No wonder Mexicans don't want to stay in Mexico where even the churches are corrupt.

FBI joins probe into spying by ex-Marine for Filipinos. This story broke last night and the MSM is doing all it can to spin it into a new Bush scandal, but it all started before Bush was in office, so keep that in mind as you follow it.

Sorry Cindy, but Napolitano won't seek Guard's return.

Robots Race for $2 Million Prize Saturday. Wonder if that will be on TV? Anybody know?

Micro-organisms may be turned into nano-circuitry. Cool.

Round the Reader - Hmmmm Edition...

Happy Thursday!!

Let's see what the reader has for us today:

Roberts confirmed as chief justice. I personally am very happy about that, not because of his views on the issues, but because he seems to not have an agenda. I want every judge to have no agenda and just judge based on the law, period.

Americans Raid Two Sunni Officials' Homes. Good.

Judge orders release of Abu Ghraib photos. WTF for?!?! To get more people to hate US for the horrible behavior of a few?!?! Nice work you Asshat Judge.

Hayworth targets migrants with immigration bill:
WASHINGTON - Rep. J.D. Hayworth, R-Ariz., plans to introduce today a sweeping immigration enforcement bill that would create a new national Social Security card, crack down on employers who hired undocumented workers and bring a moratorium on immigrant visas for Mexican citizens.

Although the provisions of the bill were well-received by some proponents of greater immigration control, they were widely assailed by immigration attorneys, advocates for undocumented immigrants and privacy watchdogs.

[...]

Some provisions echoed a bill by Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., that calls for 10,000 more Border Patrol agents, adds Customs and Border Protection officers at ports of entry and expands detention space for undocumented immigrants.

But Hayworth's bill, unlike other immigration legislation introduced this session, would reduce the number of visas available, particularly for Mexican citizens.

It includes provisions that historically have proved controversial, such as putting the military on the border, ending automatic citizenship for babies born on U.S. soil and authorizing an estimated 700,000 state and local law enforcement officers to enforce immigration law...

Looks about right to me. You go J.D..

Pakistan Says Arrest Prevented New Attacks. I hope that is true, but I really don't trust them anymore.
