Tuesday - March 04, 2008Identify this...So what is this? ![]() To win the grand prize, you have to be very specific. Good Luck. Saturday - August 11, 2007Saturday - June 23, 2007Wednesday - May 23, 2007Grandpa...My regular readers know I love images, that I love taking image. I also have collected a few over the years. Here is one of my Grandpas in 1922. He is the runner on the right: (Clickable) Thursday - April 19, 2007Saturday - March 31, 2007Saturday - March 31, 2007Saturday - March 31, 2007Saturday - March 31, 2007Saturday - March 31, 2007Saturday - March 31, 2007Sunday - March 18, 2007What I Woke Up To...This was what was on the wall this morning when I
woke up at about 0730 MST. The light coming from the East windows created an
interesting effect:
Sunday - February 25, 2007Rock Me Tonite...No Googling allowed... Update: Google the title of this post already. Sheesh. Saturday - February 24, 2007Friday - February 23, 2007Friday - February 23, 2007Before they were Big...Who are these guys?
Flash was not allowed so the color is weird. I saw
them the night this picture was taken for $2. They were great. Their opening
band was XTC.
One more story after you guess correctly. Which shouldn't take long. Update: Billy Budd and Scott P got it quick. Not that is was hard. So here is the story: Andy Summers was/is a photographer. As I got closer he was setting the exposure on his camera and we took a picture of each other taking pictures. I ran out of film and didn't get the shot. I thought he might have and bought his photography book Throb. I was not in the there but the images were excellent. I still have the book. Here is the image before I ran out of film: Tuesday - February 20, 2007Old...Greece. One of the Islands. I don't remember which one, but I do
remember that this ruin is one of the oldest in all of Greece. I also remember
that this temple had something to do with Zeus.
It fascinating to see and photograph something this old. The image was taken
circa 1984:
Monday - February 19, 2007Tonight's Image...It is Lori again, but first a bit of explanation. I don't
like the way they look on my page. I have been using Photoshop for years.
It does what I want well enough, but I am not an expert. When I post images on
my site I always optimize them so they are not huge. My scanner also came with Photoshop Elements,
which I also already really love. During the optimization the colors change.
It even happens with B&W images. The way I like the images they are
warmer. More reds in the skin. It looks great on my Mac, but when I optimize
some of that warmness is gone. Highlights/contrasts also change. They are
just not right. It is not horrible. It is just not what I want. I will
hopefully learn how to fix this. If you know how to fix this, let me know.
Photography happens in two steps, taking good exposures and making them look the way you want in the darkroom, in this case a virtual darkroom. I have also been reading about another problem. Macs use different color profiles than Windows machines. I have looked at my images on many Windows machines at work and I don't like them. They are not what I want. Since most of you are Windows users, you are not seeing what I want you to see. I have tested my screen and color profile settings, trying to match yours. It is way to blue. I don't like it. I have also tried to imbed your Windows profile in my images. I have no way to know if it works. Every Windows machine I look at seems to render them differently. In fact, Macs don't get it right either. They are better, but not right. The take home? There are two many variables. You are not seeing the best image. The virtual prints only look like I want on my machine. You are not seeing what I want you to see. Right now, I see no way around this, but I hope you enjoy the images anyway. After all that, here is tonight's image: Learning is so much fun!
