Monday - November 12, 2007Veteran's Day...I scanned a few pages of my USAF 'yearbook' as a tribute to all those who have served. Thank you Vets: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah, that's me. First row, second picture down. Scary. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tuesday - September 11, 2007Never Forget...I am reposting this from last year, because I haven't forgotten: I honor Charles Mendez:
In the summer of 1996, Kerri Meehan met a baby- faced guy at a bar in the Hamptons. She was so certain that she was his senior, she carded him. "He loved his job": Charles R. Mendez: 'I Have No Regrets' I will never forget, Never.
Monday - September 10, 2007September 11, 2007...I am going to try and be there. You should also: This is an Action Alert! Left Wing extremists are calling for flag-draped cardboard coffins, death count signs and people in orange jumpsuits to be displayed to our fighting men and women in another blatant attempt to demoralize AND demonize our troops and hinder military recruitment in time of war. When are they going to perform this despicable action?..... On September 11, 2007. Of course free speech allows this, but it's shocking that our troops have to suffer this on September 11th. Many Tucsonans are planning to rally for the troops at the same time but we would like to see EVEN MORE patriotic citizens holding an American flag or troop support sign at the Military RecruitingCenter, IN BETWEEN the protesters and the troops. Can you come out to back up our brave fighting men and women on September 11th? You will find many cheerful veterans, military parents and patriotic citizens exercising OUR free speech. Because we have that right, too. Here's the plan: Fill up the Military Recruiting Center parking lot and sidewalks at 2302 E. Speedway with patriotic Americans holding flags and signs that support the troops and their mission, especially on September 11th. The time is 5:00 pm to 7:30 PM. Bring an American flag, a sign supporting the troops and some extra water if you can. (This IS Arizona!) However, there will be plenty of extra flags, signs and water. The owner of the strip mall containing the Recruiting Center has given us permission to have the troop rally on Sept 11th. The leftists have been told to stay off the property or they will be trespassing and they understand that. It's really a win-win situation for troop supporters - if enough people can take the time to be there. The troops overseas know what's happening here, and they often say how they are especially encouraged when they see a positive response to extremist left wing propaganda actions like this one. (The orange jumpsuits are being provided by World Can't Wait, a front group for the Revolutionary Communist Party.) If our Armed Forces see only flag draped coffins, orange jumpsuits and death count signs it's unconscionable! Let's show them how much we care by showing up in force to support the Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard on September 11th. Now is the time to stand up for our troops and America! SEE YOU ON 9-11 ....... NEVER FORGET........ the INNOCENTS MASSACRED THAT DAY AND THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN OF OUR ARMED FORCES WHO HAVE SHED THEIR BLOOD IN DEFENSE OF OUR COUNTRY SINCE THAT DESPICABLE ATTACK BY ISLAMO FASCISTS!!!! HONOR THEIR SACRIFICE; STAND UP AND BE COUNTED AS AN AMERICAN PATRIOT! PS: Please forward this email to every patriotic person you know in the Tucson area . Ask them to meet you there to SUPPORT AMERICA/SUPPORT OUR TROOPS ----- ON SEPTEMBER 11! Wednesday - July 04, 2007Thursday - June 28, 2007I Think...I think I am back. I think this software is fixed. I think I will add links back soon. I think. If my software is really fixed, posting will now return to normal. We shall see... It was a good day for America: This has been a good day for America. For a while, it didn’t look like Washington was going to listen to us regarding real immigration reform. Thankfully, we’ve been spared a serious mistake, but I wonder if things would have turned out the way they did without the work done by the bloggers, talk radio and the American people. Rush, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, RedState, Powerline, Pajamas Media and a lot of others have done a great job. Take that, Fairness Doctrine... Thursday - June 21, 2007Posting...Sorry for the lack of posting. I appreciate your continued visits. Hopefully, soon I will be able to do more. I especially feel bad about not following through with my Patriots Journey commitment. When my posting gets back to normal, that will also. You should continue visiting the other that are posting. They are posting great stuff: Drumwaster's Rants (the founding site) One reason for the lack of posting is how I post. I use a program called iBlog. It is a great program that works perfect for what I do. About a month and a half ago I decided to switch to the new version, iBlog 2. It seemed to work well enough and I knew that it would just get better, but I thought it would get better faster. Well, it didn't. The guy that writes it has been busy (I know the feeling) and improvements have not happened. You have probably noticed some of the problems. The 'Link' link does not work, the categories are not posting, the RSS feed is not right and you don't see this one, but when I upload a new post, all 3300+ posts are uploaded again. It takes about an hour. A very BAD 'bug.' There are other changes/bugs, but those are the most annoying ones. I have even been tempted to move to something like Wordpress, that is what Rick did. I even emailed him about doing it. I decided to wait until about July. If the 'bugs' didn't get fixed by then, I was going to make a change. Well, tonight there seems to be good news. So Monday, one of the reasons for not posting, may be gone. We shall see... Friday - June 15, 2007MH-53 PAVE LOW...The kid just called. Yesterday she got to take a ride on a MH-53 Pave Low: The Pave Low's mission is low-level, long-range, undetected penetration into denied areas, day or night, in adverse weather, for infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces. The MH-53J Pave Low III heavy-lift helicopter is the largest, most powerful and technologically advanced helicopter in the Air Force inventory. The terrain-following and terrain-avoidance radar, forward-looking infrared sensor, inertial navigation system with global positioning system, along with a projected map display enable the crew to follow terrain contours and avoid obstacles, making low-level penetration possible. The MH-53M Pave Low IV is a J-model that has been modified with the Interactive Defensive Avionics System/Multi-Mission Advanced Tactical Terminal or IDAS/MATT. The system enhances present defensive capabilities of the Pave Low. It provides instant access to the total battlefield situation, through near real-time Electronic Order of Battle updates. It also provides a new level of detection avoidance with near real-time threat broadcasts over-the-horizon, so crews can avoid and defeat threats, and replan en route if needed. Under the Pave Low III program, the Air Force modified nine MH-53H's and 32 HH-53s for night and adverse weather operations. Modifications included forward-looking infrared, inertial global positioning system, Doppler navigation systems, terrain-following and terrain-avoidance radar, an on-board computer, and integrated avionics to enable precise navigation to and from target areas. The Air Force designated these modified versions as MH-53J's...I'm envious. Thursday - June 14, 2007Tuesday - June 12, 2007Remembering...![]() 05/28/07 - U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Thursday - May 31, 2007Tuesday - May 29, 2007Always Remember...For tonight's Patriot's Journey post I give you a link to our newest member, Inessential Musings. Welcome Doug and thanks. (Note: As is my posting habit these days, post frequency should pick-up toward the end of the week.) Monday - May 28, 2007Memorial Day 2007...On this day 4 years ago I started this site. Three years ago I joined with other bloggers to take a Patriot's Journey. The others this year are: Drumwaster's Rants (the founding site) The idea is to "make a single post on your own blog - or as a comment in someone else’s blog (although you should post a link in that comment back to one of the participating bloggers, so that you don’t confuse the other people commenting) - of something positive about the United States of America. Once a day, from Memorial Day (May 28th) to Independence Day (July 4th) is all it takes." If you have a site feel free to join in. For my first entry this year I thought I would share this letter written by the Secretary and the Chief of Staff of the USAF: Please remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. Tuesday - April 17, 2007Sunday - March 18, 2007Gathering of Eagles - Tucson...We gathered at the main gate to Davis-Monthan Air Force
Base. I arrived a little before 8 AM. When I got there this is what
I saw, as did those waiting to get into the DMAFB Air Show.
How do you beat the Anti-crowd? Wake-up:
The Patriots had already set-up. Amazing. Pat,
Wayne and others do an amazing job. I am
always impressed with them. By 9 AM our side had more than 30 people showing
their support for our fighting men and women:
We had a display of flags on three of the four
corners:
More and more Patriots show-up. It was all
positive. Great people showing their support for their great
military:
All the flags you see were supplied by those involved:
We even had a truck (Who supplied this? I don't
know, if you do, let me know.). All morning long it was cruising
the gates, showing support:
At about 11 AM some of the 'Anti crowd' (as TPD
called them) started showing up. By 12 PM they had about 100 folks (I guess the
bus broke down.). We gave them a corner. They took
it and TPD was worried about them (I had one my radios and listened). At one point, TPD was
worried about them burning a flag. Nice. They never did, but TPD was
still concerned. Notice how patriotic they are, see all the flags? Um,
well, no:
They even dressed-up:
After dressing-up, some of them decided to come see
us. Not a good idea, as most of the folks on our side are former military.
The sidewalk was blocked and TPD (Have you noticed all the TPD
links? That is because they do a great job.) came to our side for the first
time all day. There was some yelling, maybe a little pushing, but nothing
happened:
A few minutes later, they left. I stood next to a
former Marine Sniper who was doing all he could to,
well, not kick the s*** out of them:
We heard that the "Anti-crowd" was causing problems
at the other gate. Some of us walked the mile or so and stood ground there. I
was just like before except this time we were joined by some Patriot
Guard members and they crossed to the other side to say
hi:
What did the media have to say about the event? This: Tucsonans hit the streets in the name of war Saturday. Watch the video (impossible to link, but it is right at the top of the story). (The guy at about 43 seconds in the AFSOC cap, sunglasses and earphones is me.) Others: Michelle Malkin A Soldier's Perspective American Dinosaur Say Anything Right on the Right I II III IV The Jawa Report The Cool Blue Blog LGF NewsBusters Knowledge Is Power Hot Air Atlas Shrugs Captain's Quarters Smash Gathering of Eagles Bill's Bites Ms. Underestimated (Who has a Cavuto video that is a must see.) Flopping Aces Wayne's Report (A must read) <--Added 3/25/07 I then went on base and watched the Air Show:
It was a great day.
