Resetting Save for Web Preferences
in Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Windows

Many people don't know that the Save For Web preferences are stored in  a separate file from the general program preferences. If Save for Web starts acting strange, resetting the program preferences probably won't fix it. You can reset the Save For Web preferences following these steps.

1. Close Elements.

2. Go to Start > Search.

3. On the left pane of the Search window, choose All Files and Folders.

4. Open the advanced options menu and check the box by Search hidden files and folders.

5. In the Search for box type in this: "Adobe Save For Web PSE 4.0 Prefs" without the quotes. Click the Search button.

6. When Search finds the file, highlight it and press the Delete key. Say yes when it asks if you are sure you want to delete the file.

7. Close Search and restart Elements. The preferences file will rebuild and your Save For Web should work properly again.
