LOTR - The dangers of M.Doom
Found and freely edited from
PatriotResource.com
One Ring to
rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and
in the darkness bind them.
You're more than
welcome to edit the analogy and enhance it! Don't take it too serious, it's just
another overtired student having 5 minutes of fun (tooooo lazy to check
details). So fill the gaps and I'll modify :D
Mount Doom
(MyDoom):
...is
located in Mordor
(www).
It is where Sauron
(Bill
G.)
forged the One
Ring
(Windows - one OS to rule them
all, one OS to find them, One OS to bring them all and in the darkness bind
them). He used it to control the nine Rings
(PCs)
Given to Men, whose bearers became the
Nazgûl
(PC addicted Nerds of the dark
side). It also controlled the seven
Dwarven Rings (smaller
competitors), but the
Dwarves
(rebellic future
Unix/Linux/Mac users)
proved resistant to magic. The three Elven
Rings (young Unix/Linux/Mac
shoots?) were removed and hidden to prevent
him from corrupting them.
At the
end of the Second Age
(1985?),
an Alliance of Elves and Men
(Linux&Mac)
besieged Mordor on the Gorgoroth
Plains
(IT business, civilized
world)
. The One Ring was cut from Sauron's finger
at the Battle of Dagorlad
(lawsuit/computer
store)
by
Isildur
(law/customer/user).
Isildur was then led to the Cracks of Doom
in Mt. Doom by Elrond (Steve
Jobs? Apple store salesman?) , but Isildur
(hooked
user) refused to cast the Ring
(Win
PC) into the fire and instead kept it as a
family heirloom. The Ring
(WinOS)
then
betrayed [*repeated crashing
& data loss*] Isildur
(User)
at Gladden Fields
(@home&@work).
It became known as Isildur's Bane and as time passed, many even forgot its
evil
nature (that's why they keep
buying them). Mt. Doom is where Frodo
(cognitive
user) must now take the Ring to destroy it.
(picturing Karl throwing PC down the
stairs). Here, 'MyDoom' works
as independent assassin, knowing that Frodo (user tempted by familiarity)
doesn't get it done anyway.
