Today's news: "Streik!“ – jetzt auch an der Humboldt-Uni



" Strike doesn't mean staying-at-home", a student shouts into the crowd, "when I study in the morning and block off the Kudamm in the afternoon, that are good actions". Many students fear that a prolonged strike just runs out of energy, and so the meeting decided against the initial proposal of a two week strike. The unanimous conclusion was that one week of *massive protests* would be adequate for now."

" Streik – und für diesen Streik hart arbeiten: Das forderten viele Studenten auf der Versammlung in der Humboldt-Uni. „Streik heißt nicht Zu-Hause-bleiben“, rief ein Student der Menge zu. „Wenn ich vormittags studiere und nachmittags den Ku’damm sperre, das sind richtig gute Aktionen.“ Mehrere Studenten fürchteten, dass ein längerer Streik sich totlaufen könnte. So stimmte die Versammlung gegen den Antrag, gleich für zwei Wochen zu streiken. Eine Woche „massiver Proteste“ sei erst einmal genug, war man sich einig. Eine Stunde nach der Abstimmung herrschte im HU-Hauptgebäude allerdings „komplett normaler Studienbetrieb“, wie ein Geschichtsstudent berichtete." (...)

This motto sounds much better. And it is true that many parts of the course curriculum just continued without obvious signs of strike, i.e. have nearly all meds decided to attend obligatory events in order to avoid formal complications and studytime-elongations (I know the last word sounds creepy, but by now I'm tired of using the dictionary... see this style as an expression of my "artistic freedom", zu deutsch Künstlerische Freiheit).
