Last summer I invited Sandy down to Bristol for a couple of days. I'd been wanting to do a promo for her for years and realised the only way it was going to happen was if we just did it. She and Ray didn't even know they were coming down for a shoot, but by the end of the first night we'd shot Over My Head. Next day we tried writing a song using the camera as an instrument, that became Piunk. A few weeks later she came back with Ray and David and I caught them jamming Leggy Do and Motherless Children. The video for Broken Promises is one I made with some existing material to be projected during Sandy's live show.
Here's a tiny fragment of a performance by Sandy at Club New York in 1983. She was the special guest of Man Parrish who had just performed his hit "Hip Hop Dont Stop" and "In the Beginning.."
