Sam van Gool has/is a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and has a Propedeuse (one-year certificate) in Greek and Latin from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

In 2007-2008, Sam did the one-year programme Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

As of September 2008, Sam is a student in the Master's in Logic programme at the UvA, hoping to graduate in December 2009.

Research

Knowledge attribution and Intonation of disjunctive questions, work in progress with Floris Roelofsen, part of the project Inquisitive Semantics: a formal semantics, developed by Jeroen Groenendijk, Salvador Mascarenhas and Ivano Ciardelli, that identifies meaning as 'the exchange of information in a cooperative dynamic process of raising and resolving issues'.

Canonical extensions of partially ordered sets and topological duality, work in progress, starting from my MSc Logic research project in January 2009, supervised by Alessandra Palmigiano.

Part III Seminar talk on the Fixed Point theorem for G, on which I also wrote an essay.

2008/2009, semester 1: werkcollege Basiswiskunde in de BSc Wiskunde (UvA) op donderdag van 11-13 uur in P0.14.
Between 2005 and 2009, on several occasions I taught the three-day "Examencursus Wiskunde B" at SSL Leiden, preparing VWO students for their final exams.
