Welcome to my web site! I'm a Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Salve Regina University (SRU), a relatively small university in Newport, RI. I've enjoyed teaching full-time at Salve Regina since the Fall 1993 semester. Over the years I've taught a wide range of courses from algebra to master's level graduate courses in applied mathematics. I've also taught computer programming and introduced a course in the UNIX operating system. I really love teaching!
I'm also a bit of a UNIX/computer geek, and, in the last few years, have been very active in the Mac OS X community. In particular, I co-authored four books with Brian Jepson, Mac OS X Tiger for UNIX Geeks, 4th (September 2008) (also with Rich Rosen), Mac OS X Tiger for UNIX Geeks, Mac OS X Panther for UNIX Geeks, and Mac OS X for UNIX Geeks. Most of my time in this area nowadays is spent exploring scientific computing on Mac OS X.
Outside of my professional interests, I love spending time with my family (both human and canine), and friends (both human and canine). I also occasionally paint with pastels or draw something with design markers. I'm also quite interested in photography, especially of Newfoundland dogs. Two of my photos placed in the 2004 Newf Tide Annual Photo Contest sponsored by the Newfoundland Club of America and were featured in Newf Tide magazine, Fourth Quarter 2004. In 2003 three of my photos were among the winning photos in the Newf Tide Annual Photo Contest with one of them taking first place; cover photo of Newf Tide magazine, Fourth Quarter 2003.
