More Backyard Views

I wonder how this cute little turtle wound up in our backyard.

Looks like the robins are going to have babies soon:

This male turkey is trying to attract a female turkey...

... and it looks like he's having some success.

Let's not forget our cute little ground hog friend.

Backyard Views

A couple of photos of a fox that lives nearby:

The fox was nice enough to sit and smile for this photo. I really could have used a good telephoto lens, though.

A coyote that lives in our neighborhood:

A cute little chickadee picking some hair off a nylabone that either Max or Joe left on the deck:

And of course Joe (background) and Max (foreground) enjoying the view from the window.

Morning Wildlife Action

One of the things I love about our home in South Kingston, RI is the view from the back windows and deck.

Here's the view from our dining room/library one early morning this past winter.

Sometimes the fog is so pretty:

Just love those sunrises through the fog, too.

It's very common for us to see wild turkeys and deer. This past Saturday I saw a female red fox carrying a baby fox to what must have been a new den. Later the same day, a red fox was out in the field trying to sneak up on some turkeys (it was unsuccessful on that attempt). A half hour later a raccoon walked by in the same field and disappeared into the woods. This morning I snapped some pictures of a coyote in the same area.

Let's take a closer look:

Let's take a closer look at this one, too:

And last, but not least, Kim took this one of a deer on the side of the house.

Pretty cool, huh!

RI NBC 10 News: Jury Finds Rhode Island-Based Contractor Defrauded Government

From RI NBC 10 News:

A federal jury on Thursday ordered Rhode Island-based military contractor Custer Battles to pay nearly $10 million in damages and penalties for defrauding the government on its work in Iraq.

...

Former Army Rangers Scott Custer and Michael Battles co-founded Custer Battles, which had offices in Rhode Island and Virginia.

...

So let me get this straight. There's a military contractor named "Custer Battles?"

Newport House Sold!

We sold our old Newport house today.

We love our new house in South Kingston, but we'll always have very warm memories of the 10 years in our house in Newport. I'll remember family and friends visiting, bringing Max home when we adopted him, bringing Joe home less than a year later when we adopted him. And I will always remember all the years in that house with Sam. Our Sam spent most of his life in that house. Kim, Sam, Squeaky, Max, and Joe had some happy years in that house. To see a few pictures, taken over the years at our old house, click on "Read More".
