A Brand New 'Musicians Union' ;o) in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland; Part one |

Muff
Worden (pictured) is an American musician living in Iceland since 1997,
I'm an Austrian musician living in the USA since 1988. We had never met
in person until... ...the World Wide Web became our reliable agent,
charging no commissions. And I ended up giving a successful solo
concert in Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland, which marked my very first
visit to this amazing European country. But let's go back to the beginning... It
all started about 18 months ago when I established my very first
homepage at Geocities/Vienna/Opera. I looked through the listing of my
virtual neighbors and found the fun title "The blue church summer concerts."

I signed the guestbook of Muff Worden, the site owner. She shortly returned the favor and we've been in close contact ever since. Her
e-mail stories of the daily life in Iceland are fascinating, though
long-winded ;o) (She's a lightning-fast typist on her quickly fading
Icelandic keyboard, as I witnessed recently.)
About one year later, opportunity knocked. I started preparing a
summer trip to Austria for my father's 80th birthday celebration. I had
the idea of combining it with a stop in Iceland, taking advantage of
Icelandair's unique "take a break in Iceland" program.
I knew that Muff had read my online resume and listened to my
sound samples from earlier concerts. Since she found an open spot, Muff
quickly agreed to offer me a solo concert on August 30 in Seyðisfjörður!

found an experienced local accompanist and I sent her the sheet
music. I decided on a variety program with the
subtitle "my musical passions." That fits my career which is like
an ocean with many waves of different passions: from yodeling to
Broadway musical, including opera, art songs, and more.
You heard " Sunrise, Sunset" recorded at the concert, sung by Muff and me. Accompanist: Aladár Rácz.
Part two for next month will start with my arrival in Iceland with more pictures and sounds. Let the real adventure begin!
