Heliskiing - Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, January 2001

Here are photos from heliskiing with Selkirk-Tangiers Heliskiing out of Revelstoke, BC, in January 2001. We had clear weather most days during this low snow year. All agreed that is was a great trip and the best trip for many who had done this before. We were just a hair under 50,000 vertical meters for the week (30 vertical miles!). We are not vertical fanatics; we just had good weather to fly everyday. We even had one day where we had 14 lifts.

The suspects: Todd, Alan, MikeT, Jim, Bill, Randy, Erik, Tabi, Robert, Brian and myself (Mike). This was at one of our lunch sites. I am holding the guest pack for the day.

A fresh shot of snow when we first got there freshened everything up for the week.
This is the kind of weather we had many days. This is Erik - not sure what he is doing but he is enjoying it, apparently.

Reid, our guide for 5 of the 7 days. He always smiled - even given the fact that you can see the slope behind had ripped and we were about to ski it.

Farming is fun! We did not have to ski as disciplined as shown here but we made some effort because it looked cool.
This is one of the steeper open runs we skied. "Primo" - and it was. Reid said this is as about as bold as it gets in the open (the trees can be much steeper). Note the sluff parallel to the far side of the tracks.

This is another of the steepest open runs we skied. It was called "FFT" (Fan-Frickin-Tastic). And, it was. And, group 2 gets burned again. Hee hee hee!

And there goes Todd! This picture taken standing in the same spot as the previous as he passed. The Tangiers Glacier is in the distance. We also skied it a couple of times (6,000 vertical feet per run).
Is this booty-ful, or what?

I couldn't decide if I liked the previous heli picture more or this one. So, here they both are.

My favorite shot of the week. The run is called Rose Bowl. It rolled off to be pretty steep and caused some concern so we got out of there pronto.

The main man! Chris, our pilot for most of the days. An outstanding pilot and fellow! Thanks Chris!!! He's standing in front of the Bell 205. We also flew a B212 some days. Tabi photo.
