This was the second day we skied with Berthoud Powder Guides in 2002. Not as deep as first day (see link below to the report for that day), but still plenty of fun. The picture above is taken from the east side of the area looking towards the west side. We skied both sides.

We had sunshine, blue skies, and some nice boot-deep snow. Some sun-crust, too. |

Berthoud has some great terrain in the trees. We concluded that they have steeper stuff than Monarch cat skiing. |

"James Bond Trail" past a small cabin complete with a young couple and their two dogs. Don't ski in the poop, like Randy did. |

Snowcat skiing, as in, "If you want to ski the snow on the far ridge, you cats have to get out and hike." We did. It was worth it. (We hiked up to the ridge via the route on the left side of the picture to ski down from the spot approximately in the middle of the picture). This ridge is also visible at the top center of the picture at the top of the page. |

Bruno says, "Mikey said this would be fun. I swear he said it was going to be fun. I think Mikey is ... (some French words) ...and (more French words). I think I am going to kill him now." |

Dave and Bill think it's going to be worth it. |

The hike built up our lunch appetite for the great tasting monster burrito followed by cheesecake. Yummm. They have great food! |

Katie shows Todd and Brian her shots from the first couple of runs. I want her camera. |

Often, you skied down off the pass and intersected the road where you caught the bus back up to the cat. |

The guides can show you lots of nooks and crannies. I think this is technically a nook. (Bruno photo) |

Bob takes his best shot at (and winning) the best fall of the day. This is looking down one of the typical tree runs. |

Hanging at the bar afterwards. Bill (left), thinks to himself, "If I squeeze a little harder, this one could be good." Glen, Randy and Todd brace for impact. |
