
Oatmeal Cookies
Ingredients

Procedure
Oven 350, 12-15 minutes
Grease or use non-stick cookiesheets.
Preheat oven. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water, and vanilla until creamy. A mixer works well for this. Combine remaining ingredients and add them to the wet ingredients. Mix well! If desired add some handfuls of chopped walnuts and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets.
Be sure oven is up to temperature before baking. Bake by time NOT inspection. Cookies will cook even after removed from the oven. Allow cookies to remain on the cookie sheet for a minute before removing them.
Each batch makes about 5 dozen cookies.
