Apokatastasis

The Doctrine of Reintegration

Apokatastasis-Home

“Every effect remains in its cause, proceeds from it, and converts to it” Proclus, Elements of Theology, prop. 35.

"And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things." Acts 3:20,21

“[The Cause of All] is ‘all in all‘, as scripture affirms, and certainly he is to be praised as being for all things the creator and originator, the One who brings them to completion, their preserver, their protector, and their home, the power which returns them to itself, and all this in the one single, irrepressible, and supreme act” Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, On Divine Names, 1, 7, 596c-597a.

"When, over long periods of time, evil has been removed and those now lying in sin have been restored to their original state, all creation will join in united thanksgiving, both those whose purification has involved punishment and those who never needed purification at all." Gregory of Nyssa, Catechetical Oration 26.

What is this website all about? Our aim is to offer an expanding ecosystem revolving around a single notion, which is also the supreme purpose of our lives: reintegration. Or in one of its Greek transliterations, apokatastasis.
Elements of the doctrine are given in the citations above. The idea is that creation is in a state that can and needs to be repaired, and restored to its original state, or to the state in which its Creator had intended it to be.
Why isn't creation in the state it should be in? Because of two falls: angels, then Man rebelled against their creator and wanted to take his place. Creation, as we experience it with our senses, is a means of containment and of reconciliation all at once.
It is through good works, which includes prayer, that Man must regain his true self.
More specifically, our aims are:
- to
present the twice millenary tradition of Christian theosophy* through its main Jewish and neo-platonist influences, through the Church Fathers, as well as Martines de Pasqually, Louis Claude de Saint Martin and Jacob Boehme, and their predecessors in Western mysticism.
- As such, this web site is the English extension of the
Eleazar Institute. I will propose the Institute’s lessons to all those interested, as I work my way through their translation into English. The Institute's founder, Serge Caillet, is directly involved in our activities here at Apokatastasis.
- to
discuss the relevance of this Tradition in modern western cultures, with specific focus on the debate between science and religion.
- to serve as the home-base for a small community of English-speaking
students of the Judaeo-Christian theosophy as addressed here.

Dear visitor, please note that this web site is to remain a work in progress, so remember to revisit not only the blog of course, but the rest of this site too!

*the theosophy presented here must not be mistaken for the “theosophism” of H.P. Blavatsky
