Erin & Doug - A New Leaf - September 30, 2006This was another super busy weekend for me! I
got back from Nashville early in the morning, took a power nap and was off to
photograph Erin and Doug's wedding in the
afternoon.
I have been looking forward to this wedding for a while because Erin and Doug are really fun and very creative! I knew they would put on a beautiful affair that would have just the right mix of sophistication and down home fun. It doesn't get any more sophisticated than starting off at the Peninsula Hotel, where the girls were getting ready. Erin was all ready when I got there so we did a few quick bridal portraits. Erin looked absolutely amazing and has the most amazing eyes ever! ![]() ![]() ![]() Then we set off to find Doug who was meeting Erin in the lobby... ![]() Erin found him right away. I'd say she was pretty excited to see him! ![]() I love elevator shots and I especially love playing with blur and motion. ![]() I love this shot of Doug, with Erin in the background... ![]() We went around Lincoln Park for a bit and were really lucky that we managed to just miss the storm that blew through! ![]() One of the things I love about Erin and Doug is how playful they are and how much they make each other laugh.. ![]() Erin is a fanatic about two things: Cubs baseball and Wiener Circle Hot Dogs. So she had everybody make a quick stop on the way to the ceremony at this Chicago institution and get one. ![]() ![]() Both their ceremony and reception were at a great, relatively new venue called A New Leaf. A New Leaf is part florist, part garden, part uber-cool loft space. It can't hold super large functions but for weddings like Erin and Doug's, with about 125 people, it is the perfect size. I spent a little time with Erin and Doug before the ceremony playing in the garden at A New Leaf. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Erin with her dad before heading down the aisle... ![]() The reception was really amazing. Erin and Doug had set up a dozen different food stations -- brunch foods, mashed potato martinis, chinese food, deli, etc. Each theme was beautifully executed with all the fixings. (My favorite was the Chinese food, though!) ![]() A cool shot of the bar... ![]() I have seen a lot of romantic moments but Doug took that to a whole new level when he surprised Erin by learning how to sing and play the guitar and serenaded her from the balcony in front of all of their guests. ![]() ![]() It was one of the most wonderful moments I have seen as a photographer. ![]() Erin and Doug, Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your amazing day! It has been just wonderful to know you both and get to witness this beginning. My love and best wishes to you both... Rosalind ![]() Posted: Sat - September 30, 2006 at 04:25 PM |
