A reason to celebrate...Sometimes the things that make you happiest
actually happen to someone else... Like this last week, when Jonas landed the
job of his dreams -- a job in the strategy group at Equity
Office, here in Chicago. (I was so happy for him that when he told me
he got the job, I actually jumped up and down in our closet, hugging him --
which is maybe a little weird, but not as weird as it sounds because if you
remember, we have a really big closet!). It has been so great to
watch him grow his real estate business and now to see him land a job in
strategy at an incredible real estate titan like EOP, makes me so proud of him,
I could just burst!
So, since he is starting tomorrow, we decided to break out the Dom Perignon and have a little celebration in honor of this next phase in his career. Jonas has been teaching me about a lot about wine since we have been together. I used to be sort of a "spend between $15-20 a bottle and pick a label you think is pretty" kind of gal. But he has been teaching me about many of the more subtle ideas in wine. Tonight was a great lesson in Champagne for me... I love the beautiful old world packaging. ![]() I also learned about the shape of the stemware and how it can completely change the way you experience a the Champagne. Jonas bought special Riedel Champagne flutes, which help the focus the flavor where it meets your taste buds. ![]() I made sure he didn't point the bottle at me when he opened it, since my eyes are my livelihood... ![]() And when you pour, the bottle should never touch the edge of the glass (or go "chug, chug, chug") ![]() ![]() So what did I think? Well I am not much of champagne drinker, but if you have reason to celebrate, this is good stuff and I would highly recommend it!! And in the afterglow of what has been a very good week, I am just sitting here feeling incredibly blessed, that we have this life, that we have each other and that we have so much to celebrate.
