Alzheimer’s Work Days
The
Memory Walk activities of the Alzheimer’s Association
are once again giving us some community service
opportunities.
On the
Saturdays August 23 and 30, there is a need for volunteers
to hand out entrance-form packages to the participants.
Several of our members signed up to do that on the
23rd.
The event itself, starting at Kewalo Basin near
Fisherman’s Wharf, is set for early in the morning of
Sunday, September 7.
Our club has volunteered to hand out popsicles to the
runners and walkers as they finish, outside the Ward
Warehouse shopping center. It’s an early event and we
will be needed from 6:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. More
information on where and when to meet should be available
at our September meeting, or you can call our community
service coordinator,
Marion Liu, at
235-7709 or President
Russ Lynch at
261-2126.
‘Re-Discover
Kailua’ Event
The
Windward Branch of the YMCA will have a large booth at this
event that runs two full days, Saturday September 13 and
Sunday September 14, in Kailua District park.
We have
volunteered to help man the Y booth on the Saturday
morning. We’ll be working with other YMCA volunteers
and Y staff to provide helpful information about the Y to
large crowds of people expected to attend this event. A
number of sponsoring organizations are involved as well as
the Y and it is also a City & County of Honolulu event,
including “Sunset in the Park” movies in the
evenings.
Members will get more details by email and phone.
Y’s
Men’s Christmas Party
All the
Y’s Men and Women on Oahu are being invited to a
Metro District Christmas Party, December 5 at Kalihi YMCA.
It will be a joint celebration by the six clubs of the
Metro District.
