I WAS WASHING DISHES THIS MORNING. MANUAL WASH, BTW.

And old dishes (all of 25 years or so).
And I realized I'd moved from "hip" to "oldster" in my home decor.

Now, I know why my folks have "old" stuff cluttering their space.
Its usable, durable... known. Cheaper too.
Yeah, no hip. Just "good enough."

Recently my mom offered her dining table.
Nice oak, two extensions to make it large,
elegant in the way of oak.
Maybe my almost 30 daughter would want it?
Nah, not hip (not what I said but what I meant).
Maybe you? And I considered it for 5 seconds.
Nah, too heavy (not what I said but what I meant).
Its better than what I'm using, but
this "old thing" is light, usable, durable... known.

These dishes too. Wrong color. Slightly heavy.
Overheat on those rare times I microwave on one.
But cheap, usable, durable... known.
