Of particular interest are two questions for Baby Boomers:

How do you help yourselves as the digital era accelerates?
(Think of the starship blurring away from you)

How do you help your partent and their generation as the digital era accelerates?
(What starship? What are they talking about?)

(optional) How do you link to (communicate with) the younger generations?
(Mashup? What's that?
It sounds messy. It sounds dirty.
Web 2.0? What's that?
It includes Mashup? That sounds sticky.
That's a good thing?
Really? Why?)

In this age of digital, a critical design point is the architecture of systems (socio-economic, technological, political). If everything can become digital (can be represented as a number) then the relation of that thing to other things becomes very abstract. We begin to think in terms of classes and instances, and how they could interact with other classes. And we risk losing track of the fact that we're thinking abstractly about things that affect real people in this real world.

This blog is about the architecture of systems.
And how architecture affects the real world. Some currently important architecture issues:

digital identity - and related transparency/privacy/security

digital repository - integrity, authenticity and accessibility of digital records over time

digital documents

electronic signatures

e-notary & copy certificationß

digital communication - umm, there are lots of modes, how do some lead to some sense of digital presence

collaborative communication (e.g. IM - instant messaging)

e-mail - text, audio/vid

phones - wireless and not, VoIP, video phone

digital analog of space

GIS (geographic information systems)

digital economics

digital governance/democracy - we the people and our determining and provisioning of services, constraints and consequences

digital services (e-gov)
(governance links to all other issues, but one key one right now is its link to digital identity)

digital free speech

digital public records regulation

moving beyond privacy by obscurity
watching the watcher (without impairing security)

digital voting

digital art

What is missing from the list? Hopefully the opening paragraph gives some sense of the perspective. Let me know.
