Columbia River Gorge Portraits
A photographic tour of the Columbia River Gorge 2005
Photography by Rick Stasel

Crown Point's Vista House, looking East into the Columbia River Gorge
Many streams are scattered throughout the Western end of the Gorge
Many Waterfalls too
The Columbia River Gorge Highway has many roadside stops
And stonework from another time
Of all the Famous Waterfalls in the Gorge
The most famous is probably Multnomah Falls
One of the tallest falls of it's type
There's a trail that leads to the top, with a bridge seperating the
Upper, from the Lower falls
Forested Recreational Parks
Always dynamic Weather for photography
A place where clouds, hug the land
Also one of the busiest train corridors in the US
Vanishing points and moving trains, one of my favorite subjects
Boat Moorings show vibrant river environment around Hood River, Oregon
Whether the weather is foggy and calm
Or sunny and calm.
The Hood River Bridge On a sunny calm day
windsurfers get depressed, but Photographers get elated
All the mighty stone face walls on the eastern end
of the Gorge against a marbled sky
Spendid Majestic Geography
million year old history
erosion
and Synclines
No where else like it
with it's clean mountain streams
Roaring waterfalls and
trains that are both new and
old
Vistas
where the land , sky and waters meet
There's something for every photographer
Something for every eye
So as the sun begins to set in the west
and the Sky turns from shade to hue
The sun peeks out one more time
to sets the Sky ablaze.
So I leave it here
at the end of this day.
Clouds seem to quite literally
burn away.
Take some time
if you're ever in the Pacific Northwest
make plans to visit, the Columbia River Gorge
