Jan 29 2005 Welcoming remarks onboard the R/V Walton Smith were followed by science demonstations..... for about 50 guests including visiting yachtsmen, Manuel & Rosa Maria Cutillas Dr. Andy Gomez, U. Miami Dr. Frank Millero, U. Miami Dr. Jim Eckman, ONR Sir Nicholas Nuttall, Nassau Dr. Gregor Eberli, U. Miami Tours of the Walton Smith were also included in morning activities Lunch onboard the Smith was followed by ribbon cutting at the Research Station. Certificates of Appreciation for Friends of Bahamian Stromatolites Dr. Rita Colwell, former director NSF R/V Walton Smith Capt and crew Mr. and Mrs Cutillas Highborne Cay managers and staff RIBS Nassau connection Barbara Thompson and others! Eric Carey spoke on behalf of Bahama gov And finally.... the ribbon was cut! Champagne and cheescake were followed by by Stromatoltie Beach Tours!
