The Reverend David F. Peters, Minister

The Rev. David F. Peters has been Minister serving the Roxbury Congregational Church since 1986. A native of Wallingford, Connecticut, Mr. Peters received a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State College and a MDiv. degree from the Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. Prior to being called to his present position, David has churches in Danbury, CT, Waltham, MA, Glastonbury and Stafford Springs, CT. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ct Conference of the United Church of Christ, as a Director of the United Church Board for World Ministries and as a staff member at the Silver Lake Conference Center. He is active in the community, serving on a number of boards and committees including the Roxbury Sr. Housing Board and the regional substance abuse council and has been listed in Who's Who in American Religion. David was asked to be one of the Co-chairs of the Now, For the Future! capital campaign for Silver Lake Conference Center on behalf of the United Church of Christ congregations in Connecticut. He counts Silver Lake in Sharon as an important place in his journey toward ordination. It is also where he met his wife, Susan!
He is married to Susan Zappulla-Peters, a pastry chef and native of Torrington, and they have two children, Kyla, a student at Quinnipiac University, studying occupational therapy and Kirby, who attends Shepaug High School. David's interests include carpentry, Macintosh computers, U2 and he is a CT State certified Emergency Medical Technician with the Roxbury Ambulance.
On his day off during the tourist season, David can be found working as a conductor on the Green Mountain Railroad in Vermont.
We welcomed Diane in September 2006 as as our Associate Minister for Parish Life, a part-time postion. She is a gradutate of the Yale University Divinty School in the MDiv. degree program. Diane has a MA in Education and Human Development from the University of Maryland and a BA in Political Science from American University, Washington as well as an author with two books published. She has had extensive leadership experience with non-profits organizations and domestic abuse programs. Diane's duties as Associate Minister will include spiritual formation and nurture, as well as pastoral care and worship leadership.
Diane enjoys long walks and a good book. She and her husband Joe, a general surgeon at Sharon Hospital, have two children Joey, a student at American University in Washington, D.C. and Andrew, who attends Shepaug High School. They live in nearby Bridgewater.
Sandra Kleisner, Minister of Music

Sandy has been the Minister of Music at the Church since 1998. A native of Wallingford, CT, has a BA from Western Connecticut State College and she is currently the music educator at the Kent Center School and at the Fine Line Theatre in New Milford. She also gives private music lessons. Sandy has two children, Elizabeth and Alexander who attend local schools. They live in Washington.
Molly Wright , Church Secretary

Molly grew up in the Evangelical and Reformed side of the United Church of Christ, as a daughter of a minister. Molly came to Roxbury when she and her former husband, the late Rev. George Wright was called to this church as minister in the 1960's. She received training as a master gardener from UConn.
Molly knows church life well and is a valuable asset on our staff.
