Essay Questions and Answers:
Describe the type of person you might be interested in meeting and what traits you like or dislike.
Sincere, caring, honest, friendly, open, beautiful inside more important, but outside also counts; how you care for your body is important (and scriptural; believe it or not). Don't like people who think they are better than others; humility goes a long way.
If you were to meet someone for the first time, what would be the "perfect" setting? What would someone notice first about you?
Sunday school would probably be the best, but coffee house is fine. People would most likely notice that I am very quick to take charge or voice my opinion. They might notice I have a bizzare sense of humor, or have many many talents. What they probably won't notice before they know me is they will never find somebody more trustworthy or honest. (honest).
Share briefly about your Christian faith in terms of how it started, where you are at now (your involvement in Christian fellowship) and your goals.
In my mind there is no beginning of my faith; I can remember clearly back to when I was (3) and never a moment without faith. I'm sure that somebody told me certain things (parents, etc), but I apparently havea very strong tie to the Holy Spirit, because I have always believed.
I can however remember certain incidents in my life going back to when I was (5) that stand out as particulalry important in building faith.
My only true goal at this time is to meet God and have him greet me and tell me he is pleased with me. (It's naturally up to me to make it so please Him).
I have recently started a personal ministry via the internet. I have a letter I write about once/week. The archives (and more) can be found at the following:Good Guys Ministry
Describe your personality and physique. (Here is a good place to tell things photos can't tell.
I have a well-proportioned body; i.e. hands, feet; could have been a hand model. I have a very bizzare sense of humor and find funny things in virtually everything, and I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself in the purpose of humor. I usually have a beard, but not always, since it only takes about 2 weeks to grow, it's not worth fighting. Before I scare too many people away by being 31-35, I turned 31 on 25 January this year.
Tell us about your sports, hobbies, musical abilities and pets, including memorable moments.
Electronics, movies, music & home-theater. Also sporty stuff like sailing, SCUBA, motorcycles, convertibles (sooner or later, skydive!). Musical talent; I can play the stereo very well (grin). Actually, I have a natural talent to hear notes, and can even play a song on a piano given enough time to figure it out. I have a pet ferret; cutest thing I've seen. I love my mountain bike; wish I could get out and use it more. I have way too many stories related to everything, but capsizing my boat in 47 degree water on my third day of sailing lessons is a good start. (p.s. passed the lesson, got my rating; got to show off by righting a a boat).
What do you do professionally? How long have you been in that line of work?Where do you want to be in 5 years?10 years?
I started my own business about 7 years ago; graphic design and computer consulting. It works well, and when business is going well, make a killing at it; should be illegal :)
I don't anticipate ever working for a company at this point. I love the idea of working at home, so I can be with my family. (perhaps raise kids if [future] wife works during the day). I love the idea of hands-on raising a family; I'm very gifted with many talents, and know I'll [eventually] be a great dad; I've certainly had enough practice with my 7 younger brothers and multitudes of nieces and nephews. 5 years; still growing my business, starting a family. 10 years; any luck getting close to retirement :) watch my wonderful kids grow with the lord, and prepare for his return.
Where do you and where have you lived? Where were you born? What is your ethnic origin or ancestry?.
Based in the SE Wisconsin, NE Illinois area nowadays. Born in South-Central Wisconsin. I'm part German, Irish, about 7-10 others; basically euro-mutt. I have lived in Florida for a couple years (training in Navy), In Madison, WI for 7-8 years, and on a submarine for 3 weeks. (smile) I have been to each corner of the country to visit, and have found I like it all; based on the people; each climate has pros and cons. I am very mobile, since I can do my work quite literally anywhere there is a phone line, and don't have any particularly strong ties to stay where I am; just need the "right" reason to leave.
I actually have (3), count 'em 3 places I basically call home, and two of them are parents' of friends of mine, and when I'm "in town" I stay with my parents. I love having a very close family, where that still works. MY "STUFF" is in a suberb of Chicago (funiture, home theater, etc). Some things just aren't as easy as a "checkbox" to explain, are they?
Where did you attend high school and/or college? What was your favorite subject and/or your major?
HS in Racine, WI, college in Madison, WI, after a tour of duty at Nuclear Power training in Orlando, FL. "Electricity was my bag, baby". Computers are a pretty big deal also. I have toyed with the idea of getting a business degree to help run my company. (also art-related stuff, since that IS what I do). I am self-taught in virtually everything I do, from repairing washing machines to fixing the car, to computer art, to wiring homes for power, phone, or computer.
What contributed most to your previous relationship/marriage not continuing?
Nice guys finish last I guess. It's a long story, suffice it to say that I've learned TONS, and have no regrets.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?
The only thing I can think of is punctuality. Not the best; not bad enough to let people down, but enough to frustrate them. It always seems to be something out of my control, but it's still my responsibility. I tell people that apparently my purpose on this planet (God's will, if you will), is to teach people what is the meaning of patience. [they think I'm kidding]. Actually, I think that patience is one of the best virtues there is, and often point out that I'm literally more patient than anybody I know. (of course, that can cause problems if the person I'm dealing with isn't very patient; for them.
What are some of your favorite artists/paintings, musicians/songs, authors/books and actors/movies?
Ouch; very hard to say, but here's a start:very few classics I don't love, like Michelangelo, Beethoven, Bach, new artists, like Jewel, Susan Ashton; anybody that has the guts to sing a song that praises Jesus, and is put on not only CC CDs, but pop-40!
Movies; best are anything that brings out real emotion; ie. tears. examples:My Life, My Girl, , Forrest Gump, Schindler's List . Actresses:Penelope Ann Miller, Mary Stuart Masterson. I also have an extensive movie collection, and am a huge fan of Action and Sci-fi; anything that takes advantage of a killer home theater and dolby digital sound. Top 5 movies:Forrest Gump, Princess Bride, Titanic, Terminator 2, L.A. Story. (in reality, more like 5 of the top 10). My family is tied into the Marcus Movie business, and I've seen enough movies to actually rate over 650 at Movie Critic! (I get in free in SE Wisconsin). That's a standing offer :)
My movie collection is online, browse at will (fair warning; large file)
What are some sayings, quotes, or Bible verses that mean a lot to you?
It's hard to pick a favorite, but here are a few key verses to me:
I really thought this was scriptural, but can't find it "The root of love is compassion". I KNOW it's spiritual, I can feel it as much as my breath.
- 1Jn 3:18; my personal Key verse:"Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth."
- 1Jn 3:16; "By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren"
- Jn 14:6; I believe the most important verse to show a non-believer:"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me."
- 1 Cor 2:14; "The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. Love your neighbor as yourself - Jesus
The Holy Spirit once told me that "if Jesus can't make somebody love him, than how on EARTH could WE". We can love them, but we have NO power to make them love us back; think about that. That was when I started to get an understanding of just how much Jesus loves us.
If you have the time; my testimony is online, please read it, and let me know what you think.
If you were to inherit a fortune, what would you do with it?
- Get My affairs in order
- Help every one of my family and friends
- Split what's left with charity and me so that I can never work again and spend all my time with family, and in sharing my faith, likely via some missionary work.
Think about it; wouldn't it be awesome to be a missionary and never have to ask people for monetary support. The bible actually says that you should use your material goods to earn friends on earth; I already do that NOW, I would most certainly do it if I had more; can' t take it with you. I want to die broke, having spent my last cent on somebody I love. Works out perfect if you bounce your last check to the funeral home (told you I have a bizzare sense of humor).I thought about another thing recently; if I won a lottery, I realized that if I gave the winning ticket to a church, they should be able to collect it w/o paying taxes, theirby doubling the worth, basically, so if I won a lottery, I'd likely drop the ticket in the collection plate; talk about a tithe!
What is your favorite thing to receive as a gift? What is your dream vacation?
Anything somebody thought out by only knowing me as a perfect gift; I'm the type who has already gotten what I want materially, so what's important is the meaning behind it. Come to think of it; no better gift than a hug that is really meant. Dream vacation is a month in a tropical setting where I can SCUBA until I'm sick of it, and then explore the locale, and get deep inside my soulmate's head. (then decide if I want to come back home or start a mission).
If you don't SCUBA, you won't understand; it's literally like becoming an astronaut; it's NOT like swimming or snorkeling, or going into a tunnel under the water; it for lack of a better description is like going to a different world, or to the moon.
Any additional comments? Is there anything about you that the questionnaire didn't cover.
(note:I'm more than willing to help somebody else I care about enjoy "their" favorite food #2-my specialties are italian red sauce, and CHILI; world-class)
- My favorite kind of food is a doughnut, because not only is it cake, it's deep-fried.
- My other favorite kind of food is ANYTHING sombody ELSE cooks!
P.S. #1 is just a joke; I think it's pretty funny, although I do like doughnuts, my actual favorite food is the food Jesus mentions when he said "man cannot live by bread alone".
