I used to believe what “they” said was true

I used to buy all the lies they’d sell

Like the one about how it’s better to love and lose

Than to never love at all

But after loving you, I found out how much there was to lose

 

You see they never told me I could lose the sunshine

Never said I’d lose tomorrow and the stars

They never told me the heartaches would be mine

Or that so much of my world was yours

 

Liars, I don’t believe them anymore

They say broken hearts heal in time

But they won’t tell you

What a scarred heart is good for
