IÕll Remember
Sometimes I wonder
What it is IÕll be remembering
When IÕm old and my hair has turned gray
Of what will I be thinking
When I come to the end of my days
IÕll remember Daddy
All the things he used to say and do
How heÕd ask me ÒWhose little girl are you?Ó
And say ÒIÕm goinÕ visitinÕ, want to tag along?Ó
Though Momma would always warn us not to
WeÕd always stay too long
Then Daddy would turn to me and say
ÒPut your shoes on Lucy, its time to goÓ
IÕll remember Momma
Her laughing eyes and her voice so soft and low
The stories she told me about her childhood
And all those silly, funny songs she taught me
But most of all, IÕll remember MommaÕs hands
Those hands that could ease pain and fear
Or brush a way a tear
An d weave dreams for me and my brother
Dreams made of clothe and yarn, from faith and love
And when I come to the end of my days
The sun will set upon my life
And then I will think of
All the days that are filled with joy
And all the moments that were painted with love
Then when itÕs time for me to leave, I know what IÕll hear
DaddyÕll say ÒPut your shoes on Lucy, its time to goÓ
