Madaket Cruise

Thanks to a Humboldt Area Foundation grant, every Lafayette class got to tour Eureka Harbor on the Madaket as part of Ocean Weeks.

boarding and choosing seats...
...at the stern...
...topside...
...and in the bow...
not surprisingly, no one chose a seat inside the cabin below deck
Taqurri answered a quiz question on the captain's narration correctly and won a turn at the wheel in the pilot house
she piloted us successfully under the Samoa Bridge
we passed some other craft including this barge
here Sam is on the hot seat and with a little help from his friends he answers the question correctly...
...and also wins a turn at the wheel...
...as did Rachele
sea life we saw included this pelican...
and this seal (crusiing head above water at right)
happy voyagers as the Madaket approaches its moorings at the end of the cruise
