Who Wants To Be California's Governor?

Five of the 130+ gubernatorial candidates will compete for a campaign contribution on a television game show.

Just when you thought California politics couldn't look more like a circus, Game Show Network is spoofing the race with an "election special" about the underdog candidates. The one-hour special, "Who Wants to be Governor of California? The Debating Game" will include the first political debate produced in game show style.

Five contestant office-seekers, including former child star Gary Coleman and adult film actress Mary Carey, will vie on the show for a prize of $21,200, the maximum corporate contribution allowed by California law.

With Davis still in denial about the recall and Schwarzenegger's campaign platform an enduring mystery, I suppose this kind of sideshow was inevitable to fill the vacuum. But how embarrassing for my state.
