Now That's Really Simple Syndication

Some Yahoo! Groups now accessible through news aggregators.

I haven't yet seen it widely reported, but some Yahoo! Groups recently added RSS feeds and links to support content syndication through My Yahoo and personal web pages.

Feeds are updated with the titles of new postings to a group and contain a short excerpt of message contents. You can still read the full text of messages on the group website.

If a group to which you belong offers an RSS feed, you'll see an orange RSS link and an Add to My Yahoo button just above and to the right of the new message listings on the group's home page.

Clicking on the RSS link retrieves instructions for adding the feed to a news aggregator application such as NetNewsWire or PulpFiction. Clicking the Add to My Yahoo button adds the latest headlines to your My Yahoo page.

According to Yahoo, syndication is only available for groups "configured by their owners to show messages to the public." That is, for groups that do not have closed membership.
