Here's A Relief Map That's Truly A Relief

Now you can tour the world from your armchair with an eagle-eye view. But when will they offer live coverage of baseball games?

The maps in car navigation systems can be as difficult to follow as their paper counterparts—and reading them while driving is twice as likely to make you car sick. Wouldn't it be better if you could navigate an up-to-date three dimensional representation of the streets you are driving instead, complete with buildings, bridges, bodies of water and other landmarks?

That's the promise offered by FlyOver Technologies, Inc., an Israeli company that uses aerial and satellite images to create three dimensional maps for PCs, PDAs, and in-car navigation systems. Users view visual maps with motion (like a bird flying) with key points of interest noted by elevated decals. The maps are updated through narrowband streaming technologies, rather than CDs, which keeps them as current as possible.

FlyOver envisions a dozen applications for its software including real estate, agriculture, exploration, and emergency relief services. Here's one instance where the sky truly is the limit!
