The Pot O' Bill Calls The Kettle Black

Microsoft abandons IE for the Macintosh because...it cannot compete with Apple's monopoly?!?

Microsoft said Friday that it is halting development of future Macintosh versions of its Internet Explorer browser, citing competition from Apple Computer's Safari browser.

Microsoft Product Manager Jessica Sommer told CNET News.com. Sommer said that, with the emergence of Apple's Safari browser, Microsoft felt that customers were better served by using Apple's browser, noting that Microsoft does not have the access to the Macintosh operating system that it would need to compete.

Excuse me, but didn't Microsoft just finish an antitrust lawsuit in which it argued that Netscape had an equal playing field on the Windows platform and was trounced due to Microsoft's vigorous and fair competition in the marketplace?

This development isn't good news for the Macintosh community. Although I seldom use IE any more, having abandoned it for Apple's faster Safari browser, IE is still the only browser that accurately reproduces some web sites and that ensures compatibility with the Windows version.
