Dial a Deity: Text-Messaging Prayers to the Western Wall

H-I G-O-D. H-O-W R-U?

You're too lazy, too busy, or too far away to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem, but you want your prayers heard there. What do you do?

Use your cell phone to SMS them to Israel, of course.

That's what over 30,000 people have done to get their prayers heard at one of Judaism's holiest sites. Israeli cell phone users can send text messages to a computer, where they are collected and faxed to a rabbi who slips each prayer between the stones of the wall. The mobile phone service isn't yet available in other countries.

But don't despair. Online alternatives are available. If you act quickly.
