Gaither cruise to Alaska 2004

September 7 we cruised Glacier Bay. We had great viewing of humpback whales. But they are hard to photograph. Spent time by 2 major glaciers.

Admiralty Island with morning fog An Alaska ferry just before we entered Glacier Bay. Went past Hoonah. Glacier Bay, west side Glacier Bay, west side Pretty sure this is looking NE up the branch that used to be the Muir Glacier. The first tide-water glacier we saw is behind the ridge Mt. Fairweather, the king of this part of Alaska and Canada (on the border). Glacier Bay - Lamplugh Glacier. Beautiful. But no show A few miles farther in - the Margerie Glacier. The Grand Pacific is to right. Margerie Glacier Harbor seals on ice, bow. Margerie on left. Grand Pacific on right Glacier Bay harbor seals on an iceberg. They dove to avoid our ship!
