2006 Dakar Rally starting in LisbonFor the first time, the world famous
In another first for the rally, there will be a
speed limit for motorcycles and trucks (150kph), partly for safety, especially
after Meoni and amatuer rider Jose Manuel Perez's fatal crashes last year, and
partly to level the field and return the focus to navigation. There will also be
some changes to GPS usage rules that are meant to make the competitors rely more
on their own navigation skills and road book reading
abilities.
Hopefully the US television coverage will be a little better/more extensive than last year's crap-tastic little snippets we were fed. I ended up downloading coverage of the stages from some kind soul in Australian that had his feed, up on bittorrent within an hour or two of showing. Posted: Thu - November 24, 2005 at 11:20 PM | |
