| The purpose of this short journal is to share a few of my experiences during my sojourn at Kenya, Africa from 23 July 1993 to 15 August 1993.
This trip occurred because of my decision to become an EarthWatch volunteer and select one of their project expeditions: "Inside Lake Naivasha". I have included brief summaries of EarthWatch and the "Inside Lake Naivasha" objectives if you, the reader, find yourself interested... This Page illustrates some of the various eco-industrial projects I participated in, the people I became great friends with, and of course, some of the more memorable moments. Please be aware that I did this to learn about nature and ecosystems, and that I speak as a layman, as I have no biological science background whatsoever nor am I an expert in anything African. I apologize profusely in advance for whatever mistakes are found within this journal... |

I began this originally as a series of Fractal Design Sketcher black & white illustrations upon my return from Africa at the end of the summer of '93.
As the number of files grew, I decided to put them together along with stories of my time there into an Apple HyperCard stack (HyperCard was one of the first successful implementations of the hypertext concept). In January of '94, I moved from Colorado to California. I continued to update my stack even as I discovered the World Wide Web and upgraded to Fractal Design Painter, the full-blown colour paint program. I started the conversion to HTML in 1995, purchased a colour scanner, and continued to add new work to this. I began this website on October 15, 1995 on AOL, moved it to my own domain (now defunct) in 1998, and moved it to homepage.mac.com in 2005. The latest addition is what everyone has been demanding - more content & more art & more photos. Well, I'll make do with some content and lots of pictures - the art will have to come later because of many wondrous changes coming into my family. The latest is the re-start of updating Romeo's Photo Journal after a hiatus of almost four years- I hope you enjoy it! Yes, I guess this has been about 11 years in the making...wow! Thank you and enjoy! |
