Well, its been a while but having lost a rhythm section, Superscape has risen once again like a phoenix from the ashes. We've been working with a new trial rhythm section for a little over a month and we can announce now that they'll be joining on a permanent basis. The new line up is...

Pik - Vocals
Paul Richardson - Guitars & Vocals
Rob Stott - Guitars
Adam Parrish - Bass & Vocals
Richard Rees - Drums

Rehearsals are going well and we've taken the decision to dump half the old Superscape set and replace it with songs written by the new line-up... we're being unusually prolific at the moment. Pick of the crop so far is "Remote Control" - a filthy groove of a track with a surprisingly pretty mid section. We're very fond of it.

There have been reports of a gig at The Sesh late in August but this is a mistake - we'll not be ready that quick. We're expecting to be ready some time in October and we'll probably start with a small, low key gig. We'll keep you posted - we're eager to get back on stage so the second we're ready we'll be gigging.

Well, as most of you will know Messers Burton and Kavanagh (drums and bass) have now left us. But fear not! The hard-core 'scapers, Pik, Paul and I will be starting work with a new rhythm section this weekend. If all goes well then this will provide the new line-up.

There has been some debate about whether we'll keep the Superscape name - I guess the answer to that one is that if the sound changes significantly with the new line-up then we probably will (providing we can think of something better!). If we sound similar then I guess there's not much point in changing it.

So watch this space and hopefully we'll let you know What Comes Next.

Sorry if you missed it! Anyone on our mailing list would have been notified and also our MySpace friends.

For the record, it was utterly packed and although we were cramped onto a small stage we managed to play one of our best gigs in a long time. Thanks to Mak for organising a great night.

As some of you will know, we're *probably* losing Rob and Matt in June as they're persuing something called 'careers' - we're not sure what 'careers' are but apparently they're quite important. But fear not - although we'll be quiet for a little while we'll be rebuilding and coming back bigger and stronger before you know it.

If you know a good drummer and/or bassist then let us know. We'd also be interested to hear from any other musicians, whatever their instruments, if you think you can add to our wall of sound then drop us an email to band@superscapemusic.co.uk

We'll be playing at The Adelphi, de Grey Street, Hull, UK on Thursday 12th January, doors open 8.30pm. Not sure of the entry price yet, but expect around £3.

Support comes from the very wonderful Ade Webb and his trusty acoustic guitar. Also supporting will be Cracktown who we know nothing about - they may be rubbish or geniuses or, more probably, somewhere in between - come and find out!

Its a chariddy gig in support of the Macademia Trust who do lots of good work in Malawi.

We're returning the favour and supporting Thief who recently supported us at The Adelphi. Glad to see some of you at the last Adelphi gig. We'd kept it kind of low key as it was a dummy run with a new line-up and new material. We also cheekily recorded it, see the MP3 Section for a couple of rough mixes. We need to do some more work on it - mastering and EQ-ing but these should keep you going for now.

Thanks to those of you who came to see us at The Adelphi Club, Hull last Saturday (10/9/05). It was always intended as a low key warm up gig for our new line-up and new material. We think it went pretty well all things considered - not the biggest crowd but that was kind of the idea.

Ade Webb was first support, and is becoming a regular support act for us. His almost folky acoustic stuff is a nice contrast to our sonic assault - the calm before the storm. Ade insisted on having a go at boggin but was surprised at how hard it is and only managed to look a bit grumpy. The result is pictured below.



Keep practicing your bogs, Ade! Next support was The Landaus who we're fond of because they can actually play and aren't trying to be The Libertines - this alone makes them stand out from most other bands in the area. Sadly I missed most of their set as I was on the door at the time.

It seemed like an age until our set came around, probably because we were there for the whole night rather than doing our usual trick of nipping out after sound check and popping back a few minutes before we go on. We set up fairly quickly and kicked in our new intro sample - it had been a bit of a nightmare setting this up but we got away with it. It blends into the beginning of Waiting For Leon, our traditional opener. Seems like a good time to tell you the set list as best I can remember it...

Superscape will feature in the Hull Daily Mail's band profile section on Tuesday, just a short piece but worth a look. We were caught on the hop a bit when they asked us to feature in it as we hadn't got a pic since Rob joined on drums. Luckily, Ade Webb (our support for 10th Sept gig) rushed to our rescue and took a few snaps in The Lamp.

He did an okay job considering what he had to work with (us!) and where it was (a busy pub). Since its rare for us to have an okay photo, and since most of you haven't set eyes on the glamorous Mr Burton yet, here it is for your delight and entertainment.
