With the recent disturbance over copyright, I have decided to change the way my dances are presented. At first, I made enquiries about getting licences so I could play the songs in full, but the cost was prohibitive - for one song, the annual fee quoted to me by the publisher was A$1000. I would still need to get permission or a licence from the record company. Since this site is a labour of love for me, and Bill Gates I ain't, I couldn't afford to licence the music for all the dances I've done which use someone else's music. Instead, I've put 30 seconds of each of those dances up, as a 30 second clip of music is considered fair use. For those dances for which I have copyright to the music, the dances are there in full. I haven't worked out the next step yet, but it is a work in progress, and I will keep you posted.
