This is a history of Radford and McFadzean families who went from the British Isles to Canada in the early twentieth century. We also look at Youngs, Watsons, Pattersons, Nesbitts, Uprichards, Gordons, McCulloughs and other relations in Leicestershire, Hampshire, the Ulster counties and Louth.

I mention this here because you really should know that this is intended only as a story about someone's ancestors before you get enthralled. As well, when I first started, search engines liked to see key words such as the names in a genealogy up front so I hastened to oblige.

The history begins in England in the 17th century, the period of the English Commonwealth. In The Earlies, we visit Leicestershire where we find the Leedom family in 1650, possible family in the Dunnisthorpes, and the Grimes family.

The remaining chapters follow with tales of the rest of the family as we progress to the present but there are also many Asides to add information that doesn’t otherwise fit, particularly about Ireland where the family records I have found don’t go back far enough to match the English material.

There are references at the end of each section so you can see immediately where I got the information and guesses as to its reliability. As well, there are comments there to explain terms that you might otherwise have some difficulty with. Treat the reference sections as part of the story.

And as readers are probably not interested in both family lines and as the McFadzean family story begins only in the 1800s, I have marked the titles of the McFadzean tales with an (M) so you may read them or skip them as you choose. If all else fails, try the Index to Names. There is more there than you might suppose.

What you are reading is not the final version. I am still researching and, with more and more information appearing on the Internet, some holes may be filled or conclusions changed. In the meantime, enjoy what I have and hope for more.
